Emily Grund Set To Compete At US Diving Winter Nationals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – UNC senior Emily Grund at the 2022 USA Diving Winter National Championships at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park beginning Friday, Dec. 16.
Grund will compete in the women's 1M springboard competition on Friday and the women's 3M event on Saturday, Dec. 17.
After overcoming her battle with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL), a rare form of cancer, Grund returned to the diving well this season and has already qualified for the 2023 NCAA Regional Zone Championships.
In her most recent competition, Grund placed third on the 1M springboard at the Tennessee Invitational. She has participated in three meets this season and recorded five top three finishes in six events. Grund placed second in the 1M and third on the 3M springboard in the dual meet with UNCW before finishing second on the 3M and third in the 1M event against South Carolina.
Her last competition prior to her diagnosis in September 2021 was the 2021 NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
