Crawley, Tanguilig Sweep ACC Tennis Weekly Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina's Fiona Crawley has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Players of the Week, and teammate Carson Tanguilig has been selected the league's Freshman of the Week.
Crawley and Tanguilig helped lead North Carolina to its third consecutive ITA National Team Indoor Championship over the weekend, posting victories over No. 11 Ohio State (4-1), No. 7 Virginia (4-1), No. 3 NC State (4-1) and No. 8 Oklahoma (4-2).
Crawley, a native of San Antonio, Texas, posted a 3-0 singles record and a 2-2 mark in doubles in leading UNC to the title. Ranked No. 19 in singles, Crawley scored the clinching point in victories over the Buckeyes and Cavaliers, and supplied the critical first point in the 4-2 championship victory over Oklahoma.
The nation's 14th-ranked player, Tanguilig posted a 3-0 singles record, which included straight-set wins over Virginia's Sara Ziodato and NC State's Sophie Abrams in the ITA tournament. In the championship match versus Oklahoma, she earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Sasha Pisareva.
No. 2 North Carolina (11-0) gets a well deserved rest period before starting ACC play at Notre Dame on Feb. 25.
