Mandour Finishes 15th At NCAA Championships
March 27, 2022 | Fencing
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Sophia Mandour finished 15th in women's foil at the 2022 NCAA Fencing Championships. The junior finished the two-day competition with a record of 10-13. Mandour was the third highest finisher in the ACC, only behind two athletes from Notre Dame. Maia Weintraub of Princeton went on to claim the title.
Mandour made the most out of her first time qualifying to the NCAA Championships. As the only Tar Heel to qualify, Mandour was able to work her way up to 15th in a field of 24 athletes. Mandour was also selected second-team All-Mid-Atlantic/South Region by the US Fencing Coaches Association. Mandour will look to build on the experience of competing at the NCAA Championships as she heads into competition next fall.
