Jones Named ACC Softball Player of the Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After helping lead Carolina to a weekend series win over NC State, redshirt sophomore Kianna Jones has been named the ACC Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. This is Jones' first career weekly honor and the first weekly honor this season for Carolina.
In the Tar Heels' series victory over the Wolfpack, Jones led the team with a 1.636 slugging percentage, hitting three home runs, one in each game, racking up eight RBIs, six hits, scoring four runs with 18 total bases and notching her first career triple. She also complied a .545 batting average (6-of-11) at the plate.
Jones, a Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, native, currently leads Carolina in home runs (7), slugging percentage (.588) and total bases (50) in her first season as a Tar Heel and is second on the team with 21 RBIs.
Up next, the Tar Heels host App State on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Anderson Stadium.
