Burnett, Gerard Tie for 10th at Valspar

Ryan Gerard and Ryan Burnett tied for 10th place and North Carolina finished seventh Tuesday after the final round of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
Gerard shot a third-round 69 to finish 6-under 207. Burnett had a pair of 67s in Monday's first two rounds and closed with a 1-over 73 to also finish at 207.
The Tar Heels dropped four spots to seventh after Tuesday's 1-over 285 round.
Defending NCAA champion Pepperdine swept the podium, winning the team title by 14 strokes over Florida State, led by medalist Dylan Menante.
The Waves shot 34-under 818 (274-266-278). The Seminoles were second at 20 under followed by Wake Forest (-15), Duke (-14), Arizona State (-13), Ohio State (-12) and UNC (-11).
Menante shot 64-65-70 for a 14-under 199, a stroke ahead of FSU's Frederik Kjettrup.
Carolina freshman David Ford tied for 34th (even-par 213) and Austin Greaser tied for 61st (6-over 219).
The Tar Heels return to competition April 15-16 at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate in Phoenix.
