Junkkari 2nd After 36 Holes At ACC Women's Golf Championship

North Carolina junior Krista Junkkari shot 70-69 for a two-round total of 5-under 139 and is in second place after 36 holes at the 2022 ACC Women's Golf Championship Thursday at The Reserve Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
The Tar Heels are ninth at 16-over 592 after rounds of 294-298. Florida State and Wake Forest are tied for the lead at 8-under 568.
Junkkari trails Duke's Phoebe Brinker, who is 9 under after rounds of 70 and 65. Junkkari made four birdies and only one bogey in the morning round to shoot 3-under 69. In the afternoon she was 1 over at the turn, then birdied 13, 15 and 16 and played bogey-free on the back side for a 70.
Natalia Aseguinolaza is tied for 28th at 5-over 149 (72-77), Kayla Smith is tied for 34th at 7-over 151 (76-75), Crista Izuzquiza is tied for 49th at 11-over 155 (77-78) and Nicole Adam is 54th at 14-over 158 (82-76).
The third and final round of stroke play is Friday. The top four teams after 54 holes of stroke play advance to Saturday's match play semifinals.
Carolina is seven strokes out of fourth place. Duke is third at 1 under, seven strokes behind FSU and Wake Forest. NC State and Virginia Tech are tied for fourth at 9 over, Clemson is sixth at +11 and Virginia and Louisville are tied for seventh at 14 over.
