Tar Heels Fifth In Learfield Directors' Cup

Gymnastics 25th-Place Finish Adds to UNC Total
The University of North Carolina has climbed two spots to fifth place nationally in the current Learfield Directors' Cup standings, which include the final winter sports results.

The Directors' Cup is a multi-sport competition that awards points based on NCAA postseason success. Each school may accumulate points towards the Cup standings in 19 sports – four of which must be baseball, men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball.
The UNC gymnastics team added 45.5 points to the program's total by tying for 25th place in NCAA competition.

The Tar Heels have amassed 702 points, including 295.5 in the fall and 406.5 in winter sports.

Michigan leads the overall competition with 1000.25 points and leads Stanford by 149 points. Ohio State is third, Notre Dame fourth and UNC rounds out the top five.

Texas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, NC State and Arkansas are in sixth through 10th place.

Carolina finished fourth in the 2020-21 Directors' Cup, its 22nd top-10 finish in the 27-year history of the multi-sport competition. It was the 19th time UNC had the highest national finish among Atlantic Coast Conference schools.
