Carolina Drops First ACC Championship Match Since '15

ROME, Georgia – The North Carolina women's tennis team fell 4-2 to Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Championship, from the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
No. 1 North Carolina (24-2), who had won the previous five league titles, lost in the ACC Championship for the first time since 2015, snapping a 16-match winning streak.
No. 7 Virginia secured the opening doubles point and that proved to be too much to overcome for the Tar Heels, who lost to the Cavaliers for the first time since 2016.
Freshman Carson Tanguilig and sophomore Fiona Crawley each won in straight sets on courts five and four, respectively, to square the match at 2-2.
Virginia took the lead with a win on court six and later clinched the match with a win in three sets on court two.
