Crawley Reaches NCAA Singles Semifinals

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois - Fiona Crawley continued her run through the 2022 Division I NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship with an impressive straight-set victory in Thursday's quarterfinals from the Kahn Outdoor Tennis Complex on the University of Illinois campus.Â
Crawley, who entered the tournament ranked No. 55 in the national singles rankings, won her fourth match of the week without surrendering a set. The 6-3, 6-1, victory over No. 27 Lisa Zaar of Pepperdine sees Crawley become just the sixth player in program history to reach the semifinals.Â
The win improves the sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, to 47-6 in singles this season, the nation's most wins during the campaign.Â
Crawley joins an exclusive group of Cinda Gurney (1993), Jamie Loeb (2015), Hayley Carter (2016), Cameron Morra (2019) and Sara Daavettila (2021) that have previously advanced to the semifinals.Â
Friday's opponent is Stanford's freshman and 26th ranked Connie Ma. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
