McNeil Takes The 65kg Title At Canadian Wrestling Trials

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – North Carolina wrestler Lachlan McNeil was dominant at the Canadian Wrestling Trials as he earned the 65kg title on Saturday at the University of Alberta Universiade Pavilion. He also earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament award and 2021-22 Canadian U20 Wrestler of the Year.
McNeil started his day with a convincing 11-0 technical fall over Jason Reeves of Brock WC. He came back even stronger with an 18-8 technical fall over Daniel Coles of London Western WC to advance to the championship match Saturday night. Lachlan proved he was the top guy at 65kg with a pin in 4:04 over Jacob Alexander Torres of Burnaby Mountain WC to take the title.
With the championship win, Lachlan will compete for Team Canada at Senior World Championships, U23 World Championships, and the Commonwealth games. McNeil will be back in action on July 2nd as he competes at the Canada Cup in Prince Edward Island.
