Shippee Honored For Record-Breaking Throw

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.org) – Following a stellar showing at the Penn Relays, UNC's Jill Shippee has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Field Performer of the Week, the ACC announced Tuesday. Shippee, who is from Clifton Park, N.Y., bettered her own school and conference record in Philadelphia.
Shippee shares this week's women's field honor with Louisville's Gabriela Leon, who set a school record in pole vault. Other honorees were:

Adriaan Wildschutt, Florida State, Sr., Ceres, South Africa
ACC Women's Track Performers of the Week
NC State 4x1500 Relay - Anna Vess, Sam Bush, Savannah Shaw, Katelyn Tuohy
ACC Men's Field Performer of the Week
Claudio Romero, Virginia, Jr., Santiago, Chile
Shippee's personal-best throw of 69.76 meters (228-10) made her the first Tar Heel ever to win the women's hammer title at the Penn Relays. Her distance is fourth in the NCAA this season.
She topped her previous ACC record of 69.42 meters (227'9"), which she set at last year's NCAA final.
