Department of Athletics Game Day Resale and Scalping Policy
July 1, 2020 | General
- Introduction
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ("University" or "UNC") implemented this Department of Athletics Game Day Resale and Scalping Policy ("Policy") to prevent all customers, fans, students, visitors, and other guests attending Department of Athletics ("Department") events from experiencing unnecessary solicitation from people in their vicinity. Â
Â
- Prohibitions
The reselling of any tangible ticket, parking pass, or other item of inventory granting access associated with a Department event is strictly prohibited on any University property, including at any Department of Athletics venue. Electronic sales of inventory on secondary markets and other electronic commerce platforms shall not be subject to this prohibition, provided that there is not a commercial exchange on University property.
Â
- Consequences for Violating this Policy
The sale of tickets in excess of their printed price, tax, and $3.00 per ticket service fee is a Class 2 misdemeanor under North Carolina law. Â Additionally, except for certain exceptions, third party commercial exchanges are not permitted on UNC property under the University's Policy on Use of University Facilities for Noncommercial and Commercial Purposes.
Violators of North Carolina law may be subject to criminal process. Â Violators of University policy may be subject to trespass from University property, including from Department of Athletics venues.
