Miller To Be Inducted Into USA Fencing Hall Of Fame In 2023

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Former North Carolina head fencing coach Ron Miller has been announced as one of nine inductees to join the USA Fencing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023.
Miller was appointed head coach at Carolina for the 1967-68 season and remained in that position until retirement at the end of the 2018-19 season, a career that spanned 52 years and over 1,600 victories.
He started the Tar Heels fencing program back in 1967 and continued to thrive for six decades that included being named Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year on 10 occasions, including for both the men's and women's teams in 2018.
Miller, who won nine ACC titles, was honored by USA Fencing with the Jack Baker Award for service to US Fencing in 2018. He also received the USFCA's Award of Merit in 2016 and the Collegiate Coach of the Year award in 1983 and 1986. He sent at least one fencer to the NCAA Championship in each year of his career.
Members of the Class of 2023 will be inducted at a ceremony to be held during the 2023 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge, also known as the 2023 Summer Nationals. Date and location are to be announced.
