Swimming & Diving Sends Four To World Championships

CHAPEL HILL – A foursome of University of North Carolina swimmers and divers: Alex Hart, Lilly Higgs, Patrick Hussey, and Olivia Nel will represent their respective countries at the 2022 FINA World Aquatics Championships which begins Saturday, June 18, and conclude Sunday, July 3, in Budapest, Hungary.
Hart will represent his home country of Austria in the diving well with Higgs competing for The Bahamas, Hussey for Team Canada, and Nel for South Africa in the swimming pool. This will be the first FINA World Championship meet for Hart, Hussey and Nel while Higgs is competing in her second.
Higgs qualified for the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke, Hussey will compete in the 200-meter butterfly and 400-meter freestyle, while Nel will compete in the 50 and 100-meter backstroke. Hart will participate in the three-meter diving events.
Preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. local time (3 a.m. EST) and finals will start at 6 p.m. local time (12 p.m. EST). For a complete schedule of events, click here.
