Menante Into The Round Of 32 At U.S. Amateur

PARAMUS, N.J. – University of North Carolina senior Dylan Menante won three consecutive holes and went on to defeat Andres Acevedo 3&2 to advance into the round of 32 at the 2022 United States Amateur at the Ridgewood Country Club.
Menante will play BYU's Carson Lundell Thursday morning beginning at 8:10 a.m. The winner of that match plays again in the afternoon on Thursday in the round of 16.
Menante won the eighth hole to even the match against Acevedo, who played at Seton Hall, then won the 10th, 11th and 12th holes to go 3 up. The Carlsbad, Calif., native closed out the win with a par on the 16th hole.
UNC junior Peter Fountain won three of the final five holes in his match against Yuxin Lin but lost 1 up when both players parred the 18th hole.
Lin, a senior at the University of Florida, won four of the first five holes and claimed the 7th hole when Fountain birdied the 470-yard, par-4 but Lin holed out from the fairway for an eagle 2. Fountain rallied to win the 14th, 16th and 17th holes to pull within one.
