Late Birdies Earn Menante Pair Of U.S. Amateur Wins

Paramus, N.J. – University of North Carolina senior Dylan Menante won his round of 32 match with a birdie on the next-to-last hole and his round of 16 match with a birdie on the last hole Thursday to advance to Friday's quarterfinals in the 2022 United States Amateur at the Ridgewood Country Club.

The Carlsbad, Calif., native plays high school senior Nicholas Gross of Downingtown, Pa., in the first of Friday's four quarterfinals.

Menante defeated BYU's Carson Lundell 1 up in Thursday morning's round of 32. Lundell won two of the first four holes and led until Menante pulled all square on the 14^th hole. Menante made a birdie 4 on the 585-yard 17^th hole to take the lead and halved the 18^th hole with a par for the victory.

In the afternoon, Menante and Ohio State's Maxwell Moldovan each won two holes on the front nine and were tied through 11. Menante won the 12^th and 16^th to twice edge ahead by one, but Moldovan immediately answered both times by winning the 13^th and 17^th holes to even the match.

Menante made a birdie on the final hole for the win.
