Crawley Wins Fall Ranked Spotlight Singles Crown

CARY, N.C. - Fiona Crawley added anothersignificant bullet point to her her collegiate tennis resume on Sunday by capturing the A-1 Singles Championship at the Fall Ranked Spotlight from Cary Tennis Park.

Crawley, the junior from San Antonio, Texas, completed her journey through one of the toughest brackets in collegiate tennis this fall with a 6-4, 6-0, victory over freshman Maddy Sieg of Southern California to capture the title.

Crawley is now 7-0 this fall, has won 36 of 38 matches dating back to last spring and is now an incredible 84-8 in her Tar Heel career in singles play.

On her way to the championship, Crawley defeated four ranked players, including No. 1 Eryn Cayetano from Southern California on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Senior Anika Yarlagadda also had a great weekend with four victories to reach the A-2 final, but lost in an epic three-set battle to NC State's Amelia Rajecki, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3.

Next up is the first major of the fall season, the ITA All-American Championships, that will be played locally for the first time at Cary Tennis Park from Oct. 1-9 in Cary, N.C.
