Tar Heels Get Strong Doubles Play On Day 2 Of Allen Morris Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Doubles teams from the University of North Carolina led the way for the Tar Heels on Sunday in day two of the Allen Morris Invitational at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

Carolina doubles teams won three matches against opponents from Columbia University, picking up tiebreak wins from the duos of graduate student Ryan Seggerman and sophomore Casey Kania and freshman Will Jansen and graduate transfer Karl Poling. The team of junior Peter Murphy and senior Henry Lieberman also won its match, 6-4.

Tar Heel singles players won two matches on Sunday. Lieberman won in straight sets, while Murphy won his match in there frames.

The Allen Morris Invitational will continue on Monday morning on the indoor courts at Cone-Kenfield.

Carolina will open its 2023 dual match season next week on Thursday January 19 with a home doubleheader against Campbell (3:30 p.m.) and NC Central (7 p.m.). Seven of the Tar Heels' first eight duals will be in the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
