Tar Heels Sweep Weekly ACC Women’s Tennis Awards

Chapel Hill - Junior Fiona Crawley (San Antonio, Texas) and Freshman Reese Brantmeier (Whitewater, Wisc.) have been named ACC Player of the Week and ACC Freshman of the Week.
Brantmeier earns the ACC Freshman of the Week honor for the first time in her career. She is currently 5-0 during the dual match season, having yet to drop a set in her dual career. Last weekend she defeated No. 78 DJ Bennett (Auburn) 6-4, 6-3 and Alina Mukhortova (Wisconsin) 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 earning the clinching point vs the Badgers. She partnered with Elizabeth Scotty in the Wisconsin match to take down the tandem of Markham/Sholokhova (Wisconsin) 6-2 to clinch the doubles point.
The San Antonio native, Crawley is 5-0 during the early dual match season. She defeated No. 59 Maria Sholokhova (Wisconsin) 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, and No. 43 Anastasia Arseneault (Auburn) 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 during the weekend matches in Auburn, Ala. One part of the No. 1 ranked double paring, Crawley and Carson Tanguilig defeated Flach/Okut (Auburn) 6-0 on Sunday. Crawley was named ACC POW one time during the 2021-2022 season.
The Heels return to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the UNC Campus to host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Carolina will face Maryland on Friday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. with Utah facing Charlotte at 4 p.m. The winners of Friday's matches will then faceoff in the ITA Kick-Off Championship Match on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3:30 p.m. with the Consolation Match taking place at 6:30 p.m.
The winning team will advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the
