Swimming & Diving Hosts Duke On Senior Day

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In its final home meet of the season, the University of North Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Duke at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at Koury Natatorium. The Tar Heels' 12 seniors will be honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.
The women's team is 4-4 overall this season and the men's team is 3-5.
Grace Countie, Olivia Nel and Greer Pattison each rank among the top 10 in the ACC in the women's 50-yard freestyle with Nel and Pattison also ranking among the conference's top 10 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Countie, Pattison and Sophie Lindner have each posted an NCAA B qualifying time in the 100-yard backstroke and all rank among the top 7 in the league. Lindner also has a top 5 time in the 200-yard backstroke.
Ellie VanNote has registered an NCAA B qualifying time in three events: 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM, while Skyler Smith has posted a secondary mark in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Aranza Vazquez possesses the top scores in the conference on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard followed by Emily Grund in second in the 3-meter competition.
On the men's side, Patrick Hussey ranks among the ACC's top 10 in the 200-yard freestyle, and 500-yard freestyle posting NCAA B qualifying times in both events. Hussey's top ranking is third in the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard IM with NCAA B qualifying marks.
Boyd Poelke owns the fourth-fastest time in the conference in the 100-yard butterfly and sixth-fastest in the 200-yard butterfly.
Anton Down-Jenkins and Alex Hart rank first and second in the ACC in the 3-meter competition and second and third on the 1-meter springboard except in the reverse order.
Following today's meet, UNC will have its final meet before the ACC Championships next weekend, Feb. 3-5, at the Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
