Streicher's 66 Leads UNC To 3rd-Place Finish At Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational

Megan Streicher shot 6-under-par 66 to lead the University of North Carolina to a third-place finish Tuesday at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill.
The sophomore from Cape Town, South Africa, made five birdies and eagled the par-5 17th hole to shoot her lowest round as a Tar Heel. She shot 76-72-66 to finish ninth at 2-under 214.
The University of Florida won both the team championship and had the individual medalist. The Gators shot 280-282-286 for 16-under 848. Auburn was second at 8 under, Carolina was third at 6-over 870, Michigan State was fourth at 7 over and the defending champion Kentucky was fifth at 10 over par.
The Tar Heels were the top finishing team among five ACC teams in the field. Virginia Tech was eighth, Florida State was ninth, NC State placed 10th and Miami was 13th.
Florida's Maisie Filler shot 64-70-69 for 13-under 203 to win by three strokes over Auburn's Casey Weidenfeld.
Carolina's Kayla Smith, who tied the UNC 18-hole record yesterday with a second-round 66, shot 76-65-72 and tied for sixth at 6 under par.
UNC's Inez Ng shot 74-74-71 to finish 19th at 3-over 219. Freshman Ing Iadpluem shot a final-round 72 and tied for 24th at 5-over 221.
Carolina returns to competition October 25-27 in Scotland in the first St Andrews Links Collegiate against Georgetown, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.
