Divers Post Three Top-10 Finishes At Tennessee Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – UNC posted three top-10 finishes Thursday on the second day of the Tennessee Invitational being held at the Alan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Freshman Rodolfo Vázquez Montaño started the day off by finishing third in the preliminaries of the men's 3-meter diving competition with senior teammate Alex Hart placing fourth and UNC freshman Carter Loftin taking seventh to qualify for the 12-diver final.
Hart tallied a score of 309.50 to finish seventh in the 3-meter finals. Vazquez came in ninth with a total of 294.80 with Loftin in 10th with 294.50 points.
The trio combined to win the men's team springboard event with a score of 373.85 followed by second-place Alabama (334.80).
Sophomore Lara Phipps was the only member of the UNC women's team to compete Thursday and finished 23rd in the platform with 194.50 points.
The meet concludes Friday with the women's 1-meter springboard and men's platform competitions. Preliminaries will begin at 1:30 p.m. EST.
