Women's Tennis Adds Trio Of New Tar Heels

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The reigning national champion North Carolina Tar Heels announced their 2023 signing class on Monday. The Tar Heels will welcome three signees who each ranked within the top 100 recruits in the country.

Below is a breakdown of each signee.

Tatum Evans

Hometown: McLean, Virginia
National Rank: 5 according to tennisrecruiting.net
Accomplishments:

Has competed in the U.S Open three times.
Has competed in the French Open, Wimbledon, and Australian Open once.
Reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in doubles.
Reached the quarterfinals of the U.S Open in doubles.

Susanna Maltby

Hometown: Glen Ellyn, Illinois
National Rank: 13 according to tennisrecruiting.net
Accomplishments:

Top recruit in the state of Illinois.
Has been ranked number one in the country in both singles and doubles for tennis.
Has won 11 national titles.

Mary Grace Rennard

Hometown: Asheville, N.C.
National Rank: 35 according to tennisrecruiting.net
Accomplishments:

2023 USTA 16s top 10 national singles ranking & top 5 national doubles ranking.
Ranked as high as No. 4 TennisRPI according to Tennis Recruiting.
Bronze Ball at 2022 USTA National Doubles Championship
2022 G16s National L2 Singles and Doubles Champion in Chattanooga, TN.
3x National L2 Doubles Champion in 2022. (Rome, GA, Chattanooga, TN, & Sumpter, SC)
2022 16s Southern Closed Champion
North Carolina State Tar Heel Qualifier Girl's 16s and 18s Champion.
Finished in the top 8 at Clay Courts.
2022 National Level 1: USTA Girls' 16 National Clay Court Championships.
Quarterfinalist in doubles at National Hard Courts and final 12 in singles.
2022 National Level 1: USTA Girls' 16 National Hard Court Championships.
