Wrestling Completes Day One In Las Vegas, McNeil Advances To Semifinal

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – Lachlan McNeil advanced to tomorrow afternoon's semifinal match at the 2023 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, after three victories on day one of the event.
McNeil, the third-ranked wrestler in the country at 141-pounds, began his tournament with a major decision and technical fall, capping off day one with a 9-6 decision over No. 19 Anthony Echemendia of Iowa State.
The Toronto, Ontario native meets up with ACC opponent, No. 7 Ryan Jack of NC State tomorrow in the semifinal bout.
McNeil was one of three Tar Heels to advance to the quarterfinals, alongside Gavin Kane and Max Shaw.
Kane fell in his quarterfinal match, to Northern Iowa's Parker Keckeisen. At 197-pounds, Shaw was clipped in his matchup, by decision.
