Eischens, McNeil Advance To Semifinals On Day One At Soldier Salute

CORALVILLE, IOWA – The North Carolina wrestling duo of Tyler Eischens and Lachlan McNeil advanced to the semifinals on day one of Soldier Salute.

The pair were two of five Tar Heels that advanced to the quarterfinal round or further, as Jace Palmer, Wil Guida and Sonny Santiago won their opening round matchups, before being defeated in the quarterfinals.

Making his Carolina debut, Eischens' first match for the Tar Heels results in a first-period fall, followed by a 5-2 decision to qualify for the semifinals.

For McNeil, the Toronto, Ontario product started the tournament with back-to-back major decision victories.

The tandem of Guida and Santiago each picked up a victory following their quarterfinal defeats, advancing in the consolation bracket entering Saturday.

Action tomorrow from the final day of Soldier Salute will begin at approximately Noon eastern time.
