December 5, 2023 | Cross Country
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Carolina junior Parker Wolfe has been selected ACC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year for the second year in a row, while head coach Chris Miltenberg was named ACC Coach of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday.
Unanimously voted the league's top male runner by the ACC coaches, Wolfe became the first Tar Heel to win the conference's championship since 1997 and was the ACC's top finisher at the NCAA Championships for the second straight year. He finished ninth at the meet in 2022 and 2023 and is the only athlete in school history to record two top-10 NCAA Championship finishes.
A native of Denver, Colo., Wolfe won the ACC championship by more than five seconds to become the 15th individual ACC men's cross country champion in school history.
Miltenberg is the first Tar Heel named ACC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. He directed UNC to its first men's ACC championship since 1985 and it's second-straight USTFCCCA Southeast Region title. Carolina finished sixth at the NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships, its highest finish since placing fifth in 1985.
Under his tutelage, UNC achieved its highest ranking in program history, vaulting up to No. 4 in the penultimate poll before finishing at No. 6. He was also named USTAFCCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
