Tar Heels Take Down Michigan 4-1, Head to ITA Semifinals

Seattle, Wash. - No. 2 Carolina earned a 4-2 victory over No. 12 Michigan in the Quarterfinals of the 2023 ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championships at the Seattle Tennis Club.
Much like the night before with the match starting at 10 P.M. ET (7 P.M. PT) the Tar Heels claimed the first doubles match. The pairing of Reilly Tran and Abbey Forbes downed the 3-doubles team of Sheinin/Fliegner for Michigan 6-1. The Heels clinched the team point behind 2-doubles and the No. 1 pairing of Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig taking down Cerdan/Hammond of Michigan 6-2.
No. 1 Fiona Crawley got things going in singles claiming the second team point taking down No. 36 Jaedan Brown 6-1, 6-4.
The Wolverines claimed there first post of the match, at 3-singles when No. 33 Julia Fliegner (Michigan) def. No. 9 Carson Tanguilig (UNC) 6-2, 7-5.
No. 18 Anika Yarlagadda got a big win as the Tar Heels claimed the 3-1 lead over Michigan by defeating Bayley Sheinin 6-3, 6-4.
The Heels cliched the match as No. 63 Reilly Tran defetated Nicole Hammond 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 after dropping the first set on court 5.
The Tar Heels advance to the Quarterfinals on Sunday, Feb. 12 where Carolina will face Texas A&M at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. PT). The Aggies knocked off Ohio State 4-0 during the Saturday afternoon match.
The Tar Heels have made the 2023 ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor semifinals for the ninth strait year, dating back to 2015.
