Down-Jenkins Claims Second ACC Diving Silver Medal

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC senior Anton Down-Jenkins won the silver medal in the men's 3-meter diving competition Thursday on day three of the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Down-Jenkins, who captured the silver in the 1-meter springboard event earlier this week, posted a score of 447.30 to earn a second-place finish behind Miami's Max Flory, who won the event with a final tally of 456.20. UNC senior Alex Hart finished one spot off the podium in fourth place.
Sophomore Patrick Hussey was the only other Tar Heel to compete in a championship finals event Thursday and finished seventh in the men's 400-yard IM.
Junior Boyd Poelke placed second in the 100-yard butterfly consolation final and finished 10th overall
The UNC men moved up one stop in the team standings into sixth place Thursday. NC State leads the field with the 898.5 points followed by Louisville, which is a distant second, with 522.50 points.
Senior Ellie VanNote posted the best finish of the day for the UNC women's team by winning the 100-yard butterfly consolation final and placed ninth overall.
The Tar Heel women's team remains in fourth place with 431 points. Virginia sits in first place on the women's side with 879 points, comfortably ahead of Louisville (665.5) in second place and NC State (611) in third.
The championships continue Friday at 9:30 a.m. with preliminary events. Friday's finals events start at 5:30 p.m. They air live on ACC Network Extra and are accessible via the ESPN app. Direct links to the ACCNX feeds and live results are available at theACC.com.
