Tar Heel Duo Finishes NCAA Championships With All-America Status

Tulsa, Okla. – Lachlan McNeil and Gavin Kane concluded their first career All-America weekend on Saturday, finishing with fourth and eighth place finishes, respectively, at the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
To begin the day, Tar Heel 141-pounder Lachlan McNeil continued to roll, defeating No. 4 Brock Hardy of Nebraska by decision, 5-2. To finish the day, McNeil would fall short against sixth-ranked Beau Bartlett of Penn State by decision, 4-1.
For McNeil the verdict wrapped up a wild two-week stretch for the Toronto, Ontario native, which included a Canadian Wrestling Championship, first career All-America honor, and fourth place finish.
In the 7th place match, sophomore Gavin Kane was defeated by Clarion's 14th-ranked Will Feldkamp by fall (2:38). For Kane, the Milton, Ga. native concluded the tournament with four victories, his first career All-America honor and an eighth place finish.
