Clarke To Compete In European Championships

ZAGREB, CROATIA - North Carolina wrestling alum Kizhan Clarke heads to Croatia this week, to represent Germany in the 2023 European Wrestling Championships.Â
In the opening round, Clarke will face Colin John Realbuto of Italy on Mat B, beginning at 5:30 AM eastern time Monday morning.Â
Clarke qualified for the championship after winning his best of three series earlier this month, with 6-0 and 4-0 victories.Â
Back in January, Clarke made his international debut finishing second at the Henri Deglane in Nice, France.Â
As a graduate student at North Carolina in the 2021-22 season, Clarke won 21 matches on the year, which started with a 15-match win streak. In the regular season, Clarke collected three ranked victories, and was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week once. After qualifying for the NCAA Championships as the 15 seed, Clarke advanced to the championship match at 141-pounds, earning All-America honors on the way.Â
