Women's Tennis Sweeps Wake Forest, 4-0

CARY, N.C. -- The UNC women's tennis team (28-0) swept No. 24 Wake Forest (17-13) 4-0 on Saturday morning at the Cary Tennis Park.
North Carolina began the morning with wins on doubles courts one and two to clinch the doubles point and enter singles play with a 1-0 lead over Wake Forest.
The No. 11 ranked tandem of Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig recorded a 6-1 victory to clinch UNC the doubles point. It was No. 16 pairing of Elizabeth Scotty/Reese Brantmeier winning on court one 6-2, to give the Tar Heels the leg up.
Three doubles of Riley Tran and Abbey Forbes with the Heels up 5-1 went unfinished.
The Tar Heels made quick work of the Demon Deacons in singles play, finishing the match in 1 hour and 37 minutes.
No. 95 Elizabeth Scotty made quick work of things on court 5 winning 6-1, 6-0 giving the Heels the 2-0 lead.
No. 1 Fiona Crawley jumped out to a commanding lead, winning set one 6-0, and taking set two 6-0 to win in straight sets.
The Heels then clinched the 4-0 victory over the Deacs behind No. 21 Carson Taguilig who won 6-3, 6-1.
No. 6 Resse Brantmeier, No. 52 Abbey Forbes and No.98 Reilly Tran's matches all went unfinished.

The Tar Heels will face Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Championship at the Cary Tennis Park, Saturday at 10 AM.
