McNeil Named To Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina wrestling 141-pounder Lachlan McNeil was named to the Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.Â
A redshirt-freshman from Toronto, Ontario, McNeil won 27 matches on the year for the Tar Heels, which included 10 major decisions, four falls, and three technical falls. Making his first NCAA Championship appearance this past March in Tulsa, Okla., McNeil collected All-America honors, with a fourth-place finish in his respective weight class.Â
Heavily decorated in international competition as well, McNeil was victorious at the Canadian Wrestling Championships in March, without allowing a single point all tournament. Additionally, in the classroom, McNeil was named to the NWCA Scholar All-America last month, as a business administration student at the Kenan-Flagler Business School.Â
