Lautt Qualifies For US National Team And U23 World Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - North Carolina wrestler Cade Lautt took part in the 2023 Senior World Team Trials Challenge on Saturday, finishing runner-up in the 97 KG Greco Roman division.
For his effort, Lautt has earned a spot on the United States National Team and U23 World Team, to represent the US and the Tar Heels in Tempere, Finland, October 23-29.
The fourth-seeded Lautt began his day defeating top-seeded Nicholas Boykin, 6-6. In the final, Lautt would fall short to the second seed Christian DuLaney, 8-0, to secure the runner-up finish out west.
Saturday continued a successful freestyle season thus far for Lautt, as the Olathe, Kan. product finished seventh at the US Open last month.
Up next in Tar Heel freestyle action, Nicholas Fea and Jayden Scott will head to the Buckeye State for the 2023 U20 World Team Trials, June 2-4 in Geneva, Ohio.
