Swimming Duo To Compete At National Championship Meet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -Â Rising senior Boyd Poelke and rising junior Skyler Smith will represent UNC at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships, which begin Tuesday, June 27, and conclude Saturday, July 1, at the Indiana University Natatorium.
Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. ET, with finals at 7 p.m. ET. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. on USASwimming.org and 7 p.m. on Peacock.
Top swimmers from across the country will be vying for national titles and the opportunity to represent the United States overseas later this summer at the World Aquatics Championships, the World Aquatics Junior Championships, the LEN (European Swimming Federation) U23 Championships, and the Pan American Games.
The list of the 634 competitors reads like a proverbial who's who of American swimming, including world record holders Hunter Armstrong (50m backstroke), Caleb Dressel (100m butterfly), Lily King (100m breaststroke) and Katie Ledecky (800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle).

Poelke will compete in the 50 and 100-meter butterfly, while Smith will participate in the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke.Â
Both are swimming at the national championship meet for the second consecutive year.
Smith placed 25th in the 100-meter breaststroke last year, and Poelke placed 50th in the 100-meter butterfly.
