Tar Heels Beat Kentucky; Advance To ITA Indoor Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team (6-0), defeated the Kentucky Wildcats (4-1) 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at UNC's Cone-Kenfield Indoor Center. With the win, Carolina advances to the ITA Indoor Championships in Seattle.
Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty quickly gave the Tar Heels the doubles point advantage after they won 6-1 on court one. Shortly after, on court three, Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran clinched the doubles point for North Carolina after winning 6-2.
Five Tar Heels began singles play winning their first set. Then, Abbey Forbes won her second set 6-2 to give Carolina its second point of the day. Fiona Crawley won 6-1 to inch North Carolina closer to its fourth point. Finally, freshman Thea Rabman gave UNC its fourth point after winning her second set 6-0.

The Tar Heels will travel to Seattle for the ITA Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Washington from Feb. 9-12. Carolina will wait for the results of other matches around the country before knowing its opponent. North Carolina is seeking its fifth straight ITA Indoor championship.
