CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Six North Carolina wrestlers won matches Sunday, in the non-conference finale victory against No. 23 Navy, 20-17.
Carolina claimed a technical fall from Spencer Moore (125) and five decisions courtesy of Lachlan McNeil (141), Sonny Santiago (157), Tyler Eischens (174), Gavin Kane (184) and Max Shaw (197).
At 141 pounds, McNeil defeated No. 12 Josh Hoderhandt by decision, for his 10th ranked victory of the campaign. Tar Heel 174-pounder Tyler Eischens collected a last second takedown in the third period, to send the match with No. 27 Danny Wask to sudden victory. In the overtime period, Eischens secured a takedown, for his first ranked victory of the season.
Up next, the Tar Heels travel to No. 8 NC State Friday, meeting up with the Wolfpack at 8:30 PM. The matchup from Reynolds Coliseum can be watched live on ACC Network.
