Tanguilig Advances To ITA Regional Quarterfinal

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Carson Tanguilig advanced to the singles quarterfinals and teamed with Susanna Maltby to reach the doubles semifinals in Saturday's action at the ITA Carolina Regional at the Chewning Tennis Center.
Tanguilig won her round of 16 singles match, advancing to Sunday's quarterfinal round in her drive to earn a bid to next month's NCAA Singles Championship. She beat Clemson's Sophia Hatton in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals.
Tanguilig will meet Eleana Yu of Duke at 9 a.m. on Sunday in the quarterfinal round.
Also on Saturday, Blue Devil Shavit Kimchi beat Tar Heel Tatum Evans, 6-2, 6-4, in the singles round of 16.
In doubles action, Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby beat Mia Slama and Gabia Paskauskas from NC State, 8-2, to reach Sunday's doubles semifinals. The Tar Heel duo will face NCSU's Gabriella Barefoot and Maddy Zampardo at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Chapel Hill.
Action will continue at the ITA Carolina Regional through Monday in Chapel Hill.
