Tanguilig & Maltby Move On To ITA Regional Doubles Final

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Tar Heels Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby won a three-set thriller on Sunday to advance to Monday's doubles final in the ITA Carolina Regional at the Chewning Tennis Center.

Tanguilig and Maltby move on to Monday's doubles championship match against Duke's Elizabeth Coleman and Irina Balus at 10 a.m. in Chapel Hill. The winner will earn a berth in next month's NCAA Doubles Championship in Waco, Texas.

On Sunday, Tanguilig and Maltby won their first set against NC State's Gabriella Broadfood and Maddy Zampardo, 6-4. After the Wolfpack duo took a tight second set, 7-6 (5), Tanguilig and Maltby dominated the third-set tiebreak, 1-0 (10-3) to win the match.

Earlier on Sunday, Duke's Eleana Yu beat Tanguilig, 6-1, 6-3, in the singles quarterfinals.
