No. 1 David Ford Is ACC Player Of The Month
November 1, 2024 | Men's Golf
David Ford, the No. 1 ranked player in PGA TOUR U standings, is the ACC Men's Golfer of the Month for October. This is the third straight season Ford has won the award.
Â
The senior from Peachtree Corners, Ga., won his second consecutive tournament when he secured a one-stroke victory October 20-22 in the Williams Cup presented by STITCH at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C. He is the first Tar Heel to win back-to-back starts in 20 years since Dustin Bray in 2004.
Â
Ford shot 68-69-70 for a 10-under 206 total to edge Connor Williams of Arizona State by a stroke. The Williams Cup field included the Tar Heels, Sun Devils and Auburn, all top-10 ranked teams.
Â
It was Ford's second straight win this season and fourth of his career. He won the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club on September 30-October 1.
Â
Ford vaulted into the top spot in the PGA TOUR U's rankings, which were released earlier this week.
Â
He is second in this week's NCAA's Scoreboard/Clippd rankings.
Â
Ford is averaging a career-best 69.17 strokes per round, which is on pace to break UNC's single-season record. A member of the 2023 U.S. Walker Cup and 2023 and 2024 Palmer Cup teams, Ford is a combined 22 under par in four starts this season and 95 under in 40 tournaments over his four-year collegiate career.
