Tanguilig & Rabman All-Americas As Tar Heels Sweep At NCAA Individual Championships

WACO, TEXAS—Tar Heels went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, sweeping their four matches in Wednesday's action at the NCAA Individual Championships at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Carson Tanguilig and Theadora Rabman both earned All-America status for the 2024-25 season by advancing to Thursday's singles round of 16, while the teams of Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby and Rabman and Tatum Evans moved on to the doubles round of 16. Both doubles teams would become All-Americas if they win on Thursday to advance to the round of 16.
Tanguilig earns All-America accolades for the fourth year in a row of her decorated career.
To start the day, Tanguilig came from behind to beat #81 Catherine Aulia of Tennessee. Ranked #26 in the ITA fall preseason rankings, Tanguilig dropped the first set, 6-4, then raced back to win the match, 6-4, 6-0, in the final two frames.
Later on Wednesday, the #43-ranked Rabman downed Andrea Beltran of Denver in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
In the afternoon's doubles action, Tanguilig and Maltby outlasted Abby Nugent and Clara Owen of Xavier in three sets with a dominant tiebreaker performance, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (2).
Rabman and Evans also advanced to the doubles round of 16 by beating Kendall Kovick Yujia Huang of Brigham Young, 7-6 (1), 7-5.
Action will resume in Waco on Thursday.
