CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Carolina wrestling 157-pounder Sonny Santiago has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Santiago earns weekly honors from the ACC for the first time in his career. The redshirt-sophomore joins teammate Lachlan McNeil in earning the weekly recogntion from the league this campaign.

Last Friday night, Santiago defeated NC State's sixth-ranked Ed Scott by decision in overtime, 8-5.

This season, the Downey, Calif. product has 10 wins to his resume, including four major decisions and two falls.

Sonny and the Tar Heels return to action Friday night, welcoming No. 19 Pitt to Carmichael Arena for the ACC home opener.
