SARASOTA, Fla. – The North Carolina rowing team heads for Florida this weekend to compete at the Sunshine State Invitational on March 29-30 at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Tar Heels will race a varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four in the field, which includes more than 30 schools and a mix of men's and women's teams. Heats start on Friday afternoon, with finals set for Saturday morning.
The regatta is the second of the season for Carolina, which opened the spring on March 16-17 at the Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Tar Heels came away with five first-place finishes and other encouraging results.
"We're looking to build on our experiences in Oak Ridge and continue to find new speed in each of our crews," UNC coach Erin Neppel said. "The team is hyped to get out there and go up against a large field from all over the U.S. We had a lot of fun at this regatta last year and are looking forward to being in Sarasota again."
A live stream of the racing will air on RHStv, which is available on Roku, Amazon Fire, Samsung, LG, mobile devices and the web at www.rhstv.com, and also can be viewed through the RHSTV app.
