Carlsbad, Calif. – University of North Carolina fifth-year senior Kayla Smith made a 4-footer for par Sunday on the final hole to secure a spot in the fourth round as an individual in the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship at the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
The fifth-year senior from Burlington, N.C., was 5-over on the day but is tied for 34th in the 156-player field with rounds of 71-72-77 for a 4-over 220 total.
Carolina finished tied for 26th at 49-over 913 with rounds of 301-304-308. The top 15 teams advance to the fourth round with the top eight after Monday qualifying for match play which begins on Tuesday.
The Tar Heels were playing in the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2017.
Texas A&M continues to lead at 10 under par, one stroke ahead of Stanford. LSU (-1), Clemson (+2) and Northwestern (+9) round out the top five.
The Aggies' Adela Cernousek shot 68 for the third straight day to take a six-shot lead in the individual standings with one round to play. Cernousek is 12 under, six clear of Florida State's Lottie Woad.
Megan Streicher (76-78-76) tied for 106th at 14-over 230, Inez Ng (78-74-79) tied for 114th at 15-over 231, Ing Iadpluem (76-82-82) tied for 146th at 24-over 240, Reagan Southerland shot 80-76 over the final two rounds and Crista Izuzquiza shot 82 in the first round.
