LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three North Carolina softball players earned College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team honors, as announced by the organization on Tuesday: Bailey McCachren, Britton Rogers and Isabela Emerling.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
Redshirt sophomore Isabela Emerling started 43 games this season for the Tar Heels, both at catcher and in the infield. The Martinez, Calif., native, ranked first on the team home runs (14), sixth most in a single season in program history, OPS (1.103), slugging percentage (.685), total bases (89) and was second in walks (23). She also led Carolina RBIs, tallying 53, which is tied for fifth-most in program history in a single season. She is majoring in economics.
Senior pitcher Bailey McCachren pitched 41.1 innings for the Tar Heels in 2024, making 14 appearances and eight starts. She posted a 3-2 record, throwing three complete games and earning wins over UCF, Georgia Tech and Winthrop. The Cumming, Ga., native, graduated in May with degree in biomedical engineering.
Redshirt junior Britton Rogers pitched 57 innings in her first season as a Tar Heel, the second-most of any pitcher on staff, posting an 8-5 record. She opened the season by throwing the ninth perfect game in program history, first since 2011, against NC A&T on Feb. 9. The Gainesville, Ga., native, is majoring in psychology.
McCachren, Emerling and Rogers are all eligible to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in June.
