
M-Golf Places Record Five On All-ACC Team

The University of North Carolina's Austin Greaser, David Ford, Dylan Menante, Peter Fountain and Maxwell Ford were each voted to the 2024 All-Atlantic Coast Conference men's golf team, the first time in ACC history one team had five players make all-conference in one season.

Carolina head coach Andrew DiBitetto was named Co-ACC Coach of the Year, the third consecutive season DiBitetto has been selected the top coach in the ACC. He is the second individual and first since Clemson's Larry Penley (1996-98) to win the award in three straight seasons.

Greaser, a graduate student from Vandalia, Ohio, is the second Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors four times, joining Dustin Bray (2001-04).

David Ford, a junior from Peachtree Corners, Ga., has earned All-ACC honors for the third time in as many seasons. The 2023 ACC Player of the Year finished third in the balloting for that award this season.

Menante, a fifth-year senior from Carlsbad, Calif., won all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive season. He was All-West Coast Conference and WCC Player of the Year while playing at Pepperdine in 2021 and 2022, transferred to UNC and has made the All-ACC team in 2023 and 2024.

Fountain, a senior from Raleigh, also earned All-ACC honors as a freshman in 2021, when he won the ACC championship and was a first-team All-America. He is the first Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors as a freshman and then again as a senior since current PGA Tour player Ben Griffin in 2015 and 2018.

Maxwell Ford, a junior from Peachtree Corners, Ga., earned his All-ACC honor in his first season with the Tar Heels after playing two years at Georgia.

Carolina has received 15 All-ACC honors in the last four seasons and 17 in DiBitetto's seven seasons as head coach (had 16 in the previous 18 seasons).

The 2023-24 Tar Heels have tied the UNC single-season record with seven tournament victories, including the ACC Championship, its first league title since 2006. Carolina also has won the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, Williams Cup, East Lake Cup, Amer Ari Invitational, John Hayt Collegiate Invitational and Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.

Carolina is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional May 13-15 at Finley Golf Club. The Tar Heels are among 13 teams in the regional with the top five advancing to the 2024 NCAA Championship May 24-29 in Carlsbad, Calif.

Greaser leads Carolina in stroke average at 70.45, the fifth-best in UNC single-season history and is third in career scoring by a Tar Heel at 71.06. Greaser also leads UNC in score to par (-25), average round to par (-0.86) and rounds in the 60s and has recorded UNC's best finish in four of the last five starts. He shot 68-69-70 to tie for third in stroke play at the ACC Championship and won both his matches to lead UNC to the title. He also went 2-0 in match play at East Lake and was a member of the U.S. team that won the Walker Cup at The Old Course in September.

David Ford won the Williams Cup at Eagle Point in a playoff over North Florida's All-America Nick Gabrelcik, has four other top-10 finishes and is the third-ranked player in the ACC. His top-10 finishes came against strong fields in the East Lake Cup, Amer Ari Invitational, Ben Hogan Collegiate and Haskins Invitational and he defeated Florida State's Luke Clanton 2&1 in the ACC Championship. He was a member of U.S. winning teams at the Walker Cup and World Amateur Team Championship.

Menante is second in career scoring (70.89) and score to par (-0.31 per round) at UNC. He has five top-10 finishes this season, including T3 at Williams Cup, T6 at the Hayt, T7 at Amer Air and Augusta Haskins Award Invitationals and T9 at St Andrews. He won his ACC semifinal match 7&6, Â was a member of the U.S. team that won the Walker Cup and he earned a bronze medal representing the U.S. in the Pan Am Games.

Fountain has the highest percentage of rounds in the 60s on the team, including five of his last seven rounds at Valspar, Haskins and the ACC Championship. He won his match in the East Lake Cup finals, placed third in the St Andrews Links Collegiate, T3 at Haskins, T8 at Amer Ari Invitational and the ACC Championship. He shot 67-67 in the first two rounds at ACCs and made the winning putt to secure the decisive third point in the ACC championship match, a 2&1 win over FSU's Brett Roberts.

Maxwell Ford is the fourth-ranked player in the ACC. He placed second at Olympia Fields and stroke play at East Lake, was T9 at the St Andrews Links Collegiate and won his match vs. Vanderbilt's Matthew Riedel at The Old Course. He won the clinching point in the ACC semifinal vs. Wake Forest, is second on the team in stroke average (71.10) and is 6 under par over 29 rounds.
