CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, North Carolina wrestler Spencer Moore has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
On Friday, Moore was victorious over Virginia Tech's fourth-ranked Eddie Ventresca, with a 4-1 sudden victory decision.
The win for Moore was his first top-five and top-10 win of the season, helping the Tar Heels defeat the Hokies for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign, and the first in Chapel Hill since the 2018-19 season.
Moore was one of five Tar Heels to win on the night, lifting Carolina to a 1-0 start in ACC duals.
Up next, Carolina travels to Duke on Friday, for the Tar Heels' first ACC road matchup. Action between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils gets underway in Durham at 7 PM.
