Elden Wood Earns ACC Fencer Of The Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Elden Wood earned his first fencing accolade of the season when the Atlantic Coast Conference named him ACC Men's Fencer Of The Week on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Wood's performance last weekend helped Carolina earn three sweeps against Wagner, Haverford and No. 5 Penn State, as he posted a 15-2 record at the Penn State Invitational.Â
Wood notched five wins against No. 3 Columbia and No. 4 Princeton combined. The junior saberist beat Neil Lilov, the national runner-up, and also Jackson McBride, who finished 12th place at the national championship.
