Sjöberg Earns Bronze As Women Finish Third & Men Take Fifth At Regionals

EARLYSVILLE, VA, – Vera Sjöberg (19:12.8) led the way for Carolina as she was the Southeast Regional bronze medalist. Carolina cross country wrapped up its time at the NCAA Southeast Regional. As the third-place finisher, Sjöberg earned a spot in the national championships as an individual.
The women's team had three runners earn All-Region as the team finished in third with 108 points. Sjöberg, Ciara O'Shea, (19:51.0), and Logan St. John-Kletter, (20:09.9) all finished in the top 25 of the race.
For the second straight race in the postseason, Colton Sands (29:48.9) and Tomer Tarragano (29:52.1) led the scoring five for the men's team as the men took fifth with 157 points, with Sands and Tarragano also finishing in the top 12. The men's team started in 8th but progressed their way to third and held on top spot from the 6k marker to the finish.
Both squads will have to wait to see if they are headed to the national championship as an at-large bid. The 2025 Division I men's and women's cross country selection show will air on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. EST on NCAA.com.
The championship race will take place at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri, on Saturday, November 22. It will be streamed live on ESPNU, with the women's race scheduled for 10:20 a.m. ET and the men's race at 11:10 a.m. ET.
