Parent Enters UNC Top 10 In 1650 Free At South Carolina Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The North Carolina swimming program opened the South Carolina Invitational on Tuesday with a Top 10 performance and a victory in the 800 freestyle relay. Josh Parent moved in to the Top 10 at UNC in the 1650 freestyle with a 15:07.54, while the 800 free relay of Louis Dramm, Sebastian Lunak, David Quaresma and Julian Swiderski clocked a 6:17.82 to take victory in the relay.

Parent holds a personal best of 14:48.46 but clocked the 15:07.54 in his first 1650 as a Tar Heel. His PB would rank second all-time at UNC. He also finished just under a second short of notching an NCAA qualifying time.

Lily Reader paced the women's squad during the distance evening with a second-place finish in the 1650 free. Her time of 16:26.80 was just over a second off the NCAA qualifying time. Reader's personal best of 16:19.74 in the event has her 10th on UNC's all-time list.

In the women's 800 free relay, the team of Mary Macaulay, Maren Conze, Lily Sawyer and Reader posted a 7:09.40 to finish second on the night.

The Heels will be back in the pool on Wednesday with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Fans can follow results on the Meet Mobile app.
