Wrestling Falls at No. 6 Nebraska Friday Night, 27-9

LINCOLN, Neb. – Sixth-ranked Nebraska defeated No. 16 North Carolina, 27-9, Friday evening in nonconference action.

The Cornhuskers improved to 6-2 on the year, as the Tar Heels suffered their first loss of the season, after starting the campaign with six-straight victories.
Â
On the night, Kysen Terukina (125), Nate Askew (149) and Jake Dailey (184) collected individual victories for the Tar Heels.
Â
With the dual starting at 157, Nebraska jumped out to an 11-0 victory, courtesy of two major decisions and a decision. Dailey earned the first win on the night for Carolina, an 8-4 decision.

The redshirt-freshman earned an escape, takedown and two nearfall points in the second period, taking control of the match for his first career road dual victory.

Following a major decision and third-period fall by the Cornhuskers, Terukina claimed a 4-1 decision over Nebraska's Alan Koehler at 125-pounds. Terukina jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening three minutes, en route to claiming his fifth dual victory of the campaign.

Nebraska answered with two consecutive decisions, followed by Askew's sudden-victory decision at 149-pounds. The true freshman tied the match at one-all with an escape in the third period, securing the win less than a minute into the overtime period.

Up next, the Tar Heels will close out the weekend on the road at 12th-ranked Northern Iowa on Sunday. Action between Carolina and the Panthers gets underway at 2 PM.
